How to Make a Balloon Powered Car | DIY Balloon Crafting Guide

We all love to create something new. Suppose you are thinking of making a balloon-powered car. Then take a start. You can make it easily and creatively on your own. Today after going through this blog post, you can learn how to make a balloon powered car.

How to Make a Balloon Powered Car

Gather Materials Needed for Building a Balloon Car

If you are thinking of crafting anything or making any creative thing. Then all you have to do is first collect and grab all the material. According to your need.

Here is the necessary material: 

• Ordinary box.
• Four plastic bottle caps.
• Wooden skewer.
• Balloon.
• Tape.
• Scissors or sharp knives. An adult helper.
• Cutter. 
• Glue gun.
• Straw.

Construct the Frame of the Car

To make a balloon car, you have to construct its frame. You can construct it by just following by steps. 

First, you must take a box (it can be of shipping or shoe, but it doesn’t matter). Then cut that box into pieces so that it will be much easier to make parts of the car.

Then take your pencil out and start sketching the car on box paper. as shown in the above picture. You are supposed to draw a frame on the box as it is in the picture.

Next, you have to grab a cutter and move it on the sketch lines of the car., as shown in the above picture.

Again, repeat this step to make another side of the car once you are complete. 

Then again, cut 1 piece from your box into a rectangle shape; then, join it to the sides of the car with a glue gun, as shown in the above picture. 

If a glue gun is not available that in that case, you can use any other strong adhesive. But I will suggest you use a GLUE GUN.

After, this structure should look like the above 2 pictures.

Add rooftop

Cut your box according to its shape, then paste it with the car’s sides with a glue gun, as shown in the above picture.

But you have to cut 1 circle from the roof. So that later you can adjust the balloon in it, as shown in the above picture.

Attach the Wheels to the Car

Now we will move towards drafting the wheel of a car. For this purpose, you have to draw a circle on your box paper. 

Then trace that circle with a cutting blade, as shown in the above picture. 

All cars have 4 wheels. Thus, draw 4 circles and then trace them with the blade.

The blade can harm you and all your lovers, so this step should be performed with full care and attention. 

Assemble the Wheels and Axle

Now start making the axle to assemble it with the frame. First, you have to make a cap for the bottle. All you have to do is:

• Take the cap off the bottle.
• Drill 1 mini hole in the center of the cap. As shown in picture 2.
• Your cap should look like picture 3.
• Now take a stirk and put one end in the cap hole. As shown in the picture.
• Now wear black cloth to your stick. I mean, round a black paper from your stick. As shown in picture 5.
• Take another bottle cap and do the same with it.
• Now put another end of the stick in the second cap of the bottle. As shown in picture 6.

1. For assembling your axle to the car frame, grab a glue gun and pour it on the axle, just like in picture 7. 
2. Then attach it to the frame. As shown in picture 8.

Attach the Balloon to the Car

For adding a balloon to your car frame. All you have to do is:

• Take a cap (it can be a toothpaste cap). As shown in picture 1.
• Drill 2 holes in it. As shown in picture 2.
• Now grab your 2 straws and put them inside the drilled hole. As shown in picture 3.
• You should apply a glue gun on its corners. You that it should not move and will be aligned. 
• Now enter this structure in the hole of your car roof. As shown in picture 4.
• Again, apply a glue gun to make it rigid.
• Now, attach your balloon to it. After that, apply tape you that it will remain in one place. As shown in picture 6.

Color the Car

Now your car is in the last step of coloring. 

If you want to spread color on your car, color it; otherwise, you can sketch windows. as in the above picture.

Test the Car and Make Adjustments

Give your car a test drive. If you notice any distraction while car test drive, then stops and fix it. 

My Opinion

Building a balloon-powered car is an entertaining and practical exercise in understanding basic physics principles, such as Newton’s third law of motion. The expanding air from the balloon propels the car forward, demonstrating that every action has an equal and opposite reaction. By selecting the right materials, optimizing the design for minimal friction and weight, and ensuring the direction of the air propulsion is correctly aligned, one can maximize the distance and speed of the car.
